ABOUT ADAM MICHAEL KRAUSE
Adam Michael Krause is a writer, multidisciplinary artist—his works are often a mix of print media, book-binding, songwriting, video, and live readings—and musician. His writings have been published by The Awl, New Compass Press, and the Institute for Social Ecology, among others. His first book, Art As Politics has been translated in Dutch, French, and Turkish, while his collection of essays, The Revolution Will Be Hilarious & Other Essays, is now in its third edition.
Krause’s musical discography spans such math and post-rock ensembles as Marielle Allschwang & The Visitations, Group of the Altos, Deprong Mori, Los Guasos and his own inimitable solo work, which ranges from folk songs to field recordings to cyclic soundscapes. Krause’s music, like his writing, explores themes of nature, political histories, being, and obliteration. He has performed with various experimental artists, such as Ken Montgomery, founder of the Generator Sound Art Gallery (where his recordings are also featured).
Krause is currently editing a full-length film, co-directed by himself and Marielle Allschwang, about Milwaukee-based artist Mary L. Nohl (1914-2001) for a project commissioned by the John Michael Kohler Arts Center. Precession of a Day: The World of Mary Nohl will debut with a live performance by The Visitations in summer 2019.
